Getting the Most From Your Fleur Hair

Beautiful hair deserves beautiful care. With the right routine, Fleur Hair can remain soft, beautiful and wearable through multiple reinstalls. Many clients enjoy 6–12 months of wear, depending on lifestyle, maintenance and how frequently the hair is worn and styled.

Follow these simple care guidelines to help protect your investment and keep your Fleur Hair looking its best.

The Fleur Essentials

Wash gently • Always use heat protectant • Keep the weft area dry • Brush morning & night • Sleep with hair loosely secured • Stay consistent with maintenance appointments

1. Washing

  • Frequency: Wash every 7–14 days, or as recommended by your stylist. Overwashing can strip moisture from extension hair and contribute to dryness, tangling and a shorter lifespan.
  • Method: Wash your hair down and vertically in the shower. Avoid flipping your hair upside down, aggressively scrubbing or rubbing the wefts together, which can encourage tangling and matting.
  • Products: Choose a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner formulated for color-treated or extension hair. Avoid harsh or overly drying formulas.
  • Conditioner placement: Apply conditioner primarily from the mid-lengths through the ends, avoiding heavy application directly at the weft and attachment area.
  • Rinse: Rinse thoroughly with cool to lukewarm water. Excessively hot water can contribute to dryness and unnecessary stress on both your natural hair and extensions.

2. Drying

  • After washing, gently blot and squeeze excess water from your hair using a microfiber towel. Never aggressively rub, twist or wring the hair.
  • Allow the lengths to air dry when appropriate, or blow dry using low to medium heat and a heat protectant, gently brushing as you go.
  • Pay special attention to the weft and attachment area. This area should always be dried thoroughly before sleeping, styling or tying your hair up.
  • Never go to bed with wet or damp extensions. Prolonged moisture around the attachment area can contribute to tangling, matting and odor.

3. Brushing

  • Use an extension-safe brush, loop brush or wide-tooth comb to gently detangle your Fleur Hair.
  • Begin at the ends and gradually work upward rather than pulling a brush from roots to ends.
  • When brushing near the wefts, support the attachment area with your hand to minimize unnecessary tension on your natural hair and extensions.
  • Brush thoroughly at least twice a day—morning and night—paying particular attention to the area around and between the wefts where tangling can develop.

4. Heat Styling

  • Apply a heat protectant every time you use hot tools.
  • Whenever possible, keep styling tools below approximately 350–375°F (175–190°C). Fleur Hair is made to be styled, but repeated exposure to excessive heat can contribute to dryness and shorten its wearable lifespan.
  • Avoid placing hot tools directly against the weft or attachment area.
  • Use the lowest effective temperature needed to achieve your desired style. Less heat over time means happier hair.

5. Sleeping

  • Before bed, gently brush your extensions and secure them in a loose braid or low ponytail to minimize friction and tangling while you sleep.
  • A silk or satin pillowcase can help reduce friction, frizz and unnecessary pulling throughout the night.
  • Never sleep with wet or damp hair. Make sure both your extensions and the attachment area are completely dry before bed.

6. Product Use

  • Extension hair does not receive the natural oils produced by your scalp, so maintaining moisture through the lengths and ends is especially important.
  • Use a lightweight leave-in conditioner, serum or hair oil through the mid-lengths and ends as needed.
  • Avoid applying heavy oils, butters or excessive product directly to the weft and attachment area, where buildup can contribute to slipping and make proper cleansing more difficult.
  • Use a deep-conditioning treatment or moisturizing hair mask every 1–2 weeks, concentrating primarily on the mid-lengths and ends.
  • When trying a new product, choose formulas designed for extensions or color-treated hair whenever possible.

7. Maintenance & Reinstalls

  • Move-up appointments: Most clients will need a professional move-up appointment approximately every 6–8 weeks, depending on natural hair growth and the installation method used by their stylist.
  • Between appointments: Staying consistent with maintenance helps keep tension properly distributed and reduces the risk of tangling or matting as your natural hair grows. Avoid picking at, pulling or attempting to adjust the wefts or attachment points yourself.
  • Storage between installs: If your Fleur Hair is removed between installations, gently wash and condition it as needed, allow it to dry completely, and store it flat or gently coiled in a clean, dry, breathable storage bag away from direct sunlight.

8. Swimming & Lifestyle

Your Fleur Hair can still be part of an active lifestyle—a little extra care simply goes a long way.

  • Before swimming, gently brush your hair and apply a light leave-in conditioner through the lengths and ends.
  • Secure your hair in a loose braid to minimize tangling.
  • Chlorine and saltwater can be drying, so rinse your hair thoroughly with fresh water as soon as possible after swimming.
  • Avoid leaving wet extensions tied up for extended periods of time.
  • Sunscreen, self-tanner and certain skincare products can potentially discolor very light or blonde extensions. Try to minimize direct contact with the hair whenever possible.

What Can Shorten the Lifespan of Your Fleur Hair?

  • Sleeping with wet or unbrushed hair
  • Excessive heat or skipping heat protectant
  • Aggressive brushing or pulling at the wefts
  • Tight ponytails, buns or hairstyles that place unnecessary tension on the attachment area
  • Frequent exposure to chlorine or saltwater without proper protection and aftercare
  • Excessive product buildup
  • Applying heavy oils or conditioners directly to the attachment area
  • Going too long between professional maintenance appointments
  • Allowing the extensions to remain tangled or matted near the wefts
